Certified Members

Many of the members of Arizona’s Leafy Greens also have California memberships, with the concentration of growers and shippers in Yuma and Salinas, Calif. The signatories to the agreement pay a per-carton assessment, generating funds that are used to pay for audits that certify that each signatory is in compliance with food safety practices that meet or exceed federal guidelines. The certified members of Arizona Leafy Greens are shippers, and are ultimately responsible for the compliance and assessment of their processes and the integrity of the produce procured from the growers they work with. Shippers may work with dozens of growers, therefore, the compliance of growers is evaluated as part of the shippers’ audits, each step meticulously documented and categorized to enable tracking of each crate of produce. While membership is not mandatory, it is impressive that Arizona Leafy Greens boasts 96% industry participation.
